My Dad was born in Slough, he went to school in Stoke Pogess and lived there for many years he had 3 Brothers, Frank, Gorge and Tom all passed. He Married my mum in 1947 in Clarkenwell at St Peters Church, In Clarkenwell Road London. Dad worked hard all his life, He was a big man and in the school holidays i would go to work with him to Smithfield Meat Market very early in the morning about 2am, I loved spending time with dad we where best mates. Dad was very ill and was in and out of hospital a lot, one thing he was very worried about was having Cancer and being alone when he died, I told him i wouldnt let him be alone when the time came wich wouldnt be for a long time yet. When we found out that dad had Cancer I told my mum and the doctors that I didnt want dad to know, it was hard but i told dad i wouldnt let him down. He would have been so scared i couldnt do that to him. When he was in hospital the nursing staff said to me that they eveytime i came to see him he would always have a very big smile and say to them "thats My Paul" the day came that i was not looking forward to i got a phone call at 4.15am to say i should come to the hospital, when i got there dad was still a live he held on till 10.15am on the 19th December then he went to a better place with no more pain. Dad i miss you so much it hurts and you missed my wedding to my special lady Lynne you never got to meet her, and see how happy ishe has made me, i love you so much dad.
